Analyse a field

Capture your location, check a SAM boundary, and explore three years of Sentinel-2 NDVI. Save what you see and what the farmer tells you.

Prepare before you leave

Save the guide and ten existing field images to this phone. You can reopen it offline, see saved boundaries, write notes and take photos. The wider live satellite map and navigation need connectivity.

Add to Home Screen from your browser menu. Device storage can be cleared by the browser; export a phone backup before changing phones or clearing site data.

Your route from Kothrud

Starts near Karve Putala. Aim for the first field around 08:30, lunch around 12:00, and finish visits by 15:00. Allow return around 17:00–18:00. Times are planning allowances, not live traffic estimates.

Navigation targets mapped road approaches, not verified gates. Confirm the entrance and permission locally. Plot areas are approximate; several plots may have the same owner.

What to record

  1. Confirm the field. Is it pomegranate now? Is Bhagwa confirmed, or unknown? Does the outline match?
  2. Anchor the crop cycle. Ask about the last harvest, rest, irrigation stress, pruning, irrigation restart, flowering and fruit set. Rest and induced stress are separate events.
  3. Observe canopy and fruit. Leaf cover, yellowing, irrigation and crop cover help explain satellite changes. Photograph canopy and fruit from a clear, repeatable viewpoint.
  4. Ask about harvest. Record the farmer’s expected date and its source. “Within seven days” is a reported expectation, not our model prediction.
  5. Keep uncertainty. Leave unknowns blank. Use approximate dates or write “about six weeks ago” in the timing notes. The open notebook is always available.

Your data

Visits, notes and photos are stored separately from the accepted map annotations. Every server edit has a revision history. Field records belong to your signed-in account.

Server export includes CSV, GeoJSON, revision history and photos. Phone backup also includes unsynced notes and photos. Exported contact details should be handled with the farmer’s permission.

Live location

On the Map tab, tap the crosshair button beneath +/− to centre on your location. Allow location access if asked. Tap it again any time to return to your position and resume following. You can also use My location. The blue dot follows your position; the surrounding circle shows the reported accuracy. Drag or zoom to browse freely, then tap Follow me to recenter. Tap Stop to turn it off.

Location pauses when this map is hidden or your phone is locked. Keep the map open for live updates. Your movement is not recorded or uploaded; Record my GPS saves a separate reading only when you choose it. GPS can work offline, but uncached satellite images and navigation need a connection.

Map sources

Satellite: Google / imagery providers, capture date unknown. Offline images reuse your saved annotation crops. Route: OpenStreetMap via OSRM, without live traffic. Field boundaries are visual annotations, not surveyed boundaries.
